Diversion Pain Syndrome (DPS) is the most common cause of chronic physical (musculoskeletal) pain that is usually blamed on structural/anatomical abnormalities.  Diversion Pain Syndrome  is usually the actual cause of the pain when the pain has been blamed on things like chronic muscle strain, bulging discs, herniated discs, chronic tendonitis, fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis and many others.

The key to understanding Diversion Pain Syndrome is understanding this:

Chronic Physical Pain is very often caused by a disconnect from one’s emotions – especially the uncomfortable emotions liker anger, fear & sadness

Do You Believe The Cause Of Your Pain Is Psychological?

When you’re not in touch with your uncomfortable emotions you burry them deep inside and that’s when you end up with chronic pain

Diversion Pain Syndrome (DPS) is a psycho-physical syndrome – something that starts in the mind/brain and leads to physical changes in the body which lead to real physical pain and other physical symptoms. These can include many types of pain, numbness, tingling, burning and weakness.  The pain can be excruciating at times and the other symptoms can also be severe – as intense as symptoms caused by any physical or organic disease.

Diversion Pain Syndrome starts in your mind but that leads to changes in the physical body that lead to pain and other physical symptoms.  It starts in your brain but it’s not “all in your head”. The pain is real, physical and can be excruciating.

While it can be extremely uncomfortable,  DPS is harmless because the actual problem is in the mind/brain – there is nothing physically wrong with your body.

So, why does DPS occur?  What’s it’s purpose?  The purpose of Diversion Pain Syndrome is to divert one’s attention away from some uncomfortable or unbearable emotion to something physical like pain.  Many people in our society repress or bury (or bottle up) their most uncomfortable emotions.  It’s very common.  Intense emotions like anger and rage are inconsistent with our self image so we tend to avoid dealing with them. Instead of recognizing them and processing them we push them down inside and repress them.  And our minds feel it would be way too dangerous for us to notice, feel or be aware of these emotions. So, our minds/brains create a distraction to divert our attention away from these hidden emotions to something physical, like pain. And the more intense the pain, the better the distraction.

The whole point of DPS is to create a diversion…so you won’t notice those emotions that your mind believes are too much for you to handle…and pain is the perfect diversion  because it really gets and holds your attention.

So, DPS is basically physical symptoms (especially pain) used to divert our attentions away from those buried emotions which our minds (the subconscious parts) are so sure would destroy us if we became aware of them.

The great news is that the psycho-physical process of DPS is extremely easy to reverse.  Using Zero Pain Now information and techniques, it is very easy to learn to recognize these repressed emotions.  Once you recognize the buried emotions there is no longer any need for the diversion…and the pain & other physical symptoms simply melt away.  The process is very quick and easy.  Most people can get rid of months, years or even decades of pain in 1-4 weeks!  And it’s an easy, relaxed & even fun process!

When chronic pain originates in the emotions it is very easy to eliminate.  And it doesn’t take long.  Months, years or decades of severe pain are typically eliminated in 1-4 weeks!

To find out if you have Diversion Pain Syndrome, the first step is to take the Pain Test. (see link below).  It’s a 10 question questionnaire – it will just take you just 5 minutes to complete – and, based on your total score, you will see how likely it is that you suffer from DPS.  Once you know, you can either purchase the Zero Pain Now book and learn what you need to know to get free from the pain.  Or, you can chose a Zero Pain Now program (see the Programs Page). Or, if you’re not sure,  or if you’re  interested in a private One on One program, you can contact me for a free consultation in person, by telephone or by Skype.
